Retail Holiday Promotions Available by Halloween

In following retail trends both on and off-line, it would seem that holiday promotions are advertised earlier every year.  For sales and shopping, the competition is fierce during the winter months to attract the most customers and generate a considerable amount of business.  For many department stores and eCommerce sites, the money made during November and December comprises more than half their profit margin for the year.

Continuing with this early trend, Multi Channel Merchant convincingly predicts that most Holiday Promotions will start tomorrow on Halloween.  The next few weeks should show an increase in online shopping and companies will be meeting those demands by providing free shipping options and intensifying mobile marketing efforts.

IRCE 2012 Conference and Exhibition Wrap-up

Last week was a busy week for Retailers and Merchants that attended The Internet Retailer 2012 Conference & Exhibition in Chicago. Statistically, IRCE is the largest eCommerce show and a great opportunity to learn, engage, and network with the best in the business.

As Internet Retailer reports, the conference had record-breaking numbers in attendance: an over 18% increase from last years’ conference in San Diego. Additionally, some companies opted for larger booths which directly affected the expanse of the show floor growing from 218,000 to 250,000 square feet.

Great eCommerce IT Tips from Forrester Research VP

In a short conversation with Forrester Research VP Brian Walker, Shop.org takes a closer look at various stages of IT operations, stages of development for new product/sales launches, and how to stay on top of the functionality of your eCommerce cart and customer experience during high peak times.

As Walker explains, One of the main components of keeping your sites’ cart functioning properly is constant monitoring and testing. Citing Target’s 2011 Missoni incident, where during Fashion Week, Target released a limited edition line by Missoni and demand for the line crashed Target’s website; he elucidates that it is imperative to judge when to release huge changes and also to load test large shopping events prior to when the sale opens both on the site and in stores.
